the first week

of school.

only the third day, and i'm exhausted. i can't stay focused in class, i'm not really excited about anything... i need some motivation. something that sounds better than sleeping the next few months away.

joy is hard to find these days.

come on!

dear mishelle and matt's soon-to-be-born baby,

please come out soon. i drove all night when i should have been sleeping just to see you.
really, it's the very least you could do.

sincerely,
your fake aunt missi

potty party

kid feet

this morning, seven-year-old samantha told me that she had to go poop really bad when i asked her if she had been... passing gas. she ran in to the bathroom, not bothering to close the door, and less than a minute later was shouting the alphabet at the top of her lungs in between grunts.

disgusting, and delightful.

general woe

as of right now, i've got two classes down, two to go. the weekend will be alllll geography.

last night four of my classmates performed the final scene of king lear.

with sock puppets.

i hadn't actually finished the play since i knew that we wouldn't have any more papers to write, so i didn't know that the three daughters - goneril, regan and cordelia - had been killed by this point. it was amazing! i laughed so hard i cried, and i've never experienced that with shakespeare before. zoolander, yes. shakespeare, no. and, really, you can't beat that.

mad baby

today was kind of like that.

the day began with three hours of sleep, was made worse by a bloody nose, and then the nosebleed made it so that i couldn't smell the poopy diaper that was squishing on to my arm. until it was too late.

survey says

now that you've seen the babies, would you stop me in the grocery store and tell me that they look just like me?

point of reference

here we have baby T and baby A. "present date, present time - ha ha!"

Finally

i have an idea for the essay that was due on thursday. my professor's only instructions had been to make a connection between something from a shakespeare play with a contemporary issue. the broadness of the assignment had immobilized me, i had no idea of even where to begin.

and what came to my rescue? the nanny job. dashiel's mom asked me to come over for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon to give everyone a break. when dashiel's dad came home, we talked about my absurd assignment, king lear, and the creator of wonder woman. and, in the words of the 400 blows, Eureka! I have it!

it will involve feminism, wonder woman (yes, oh yes), and the female characters from the four plays we have studied. i think i might be awesome.

(and thanks for noticing my mistake)

playing grounds

walking, walking! the babies are walking!

today i confessed that the real reason i want them to walk is so that we can have more fun at the park. as it stands, the three of us can only play at the swings.

i see a slide on the horizon...
