road tripping

this past weekend was my third trip to visit carmen since she moved to bellingham around may. the first time we took the $75 ferry out to san juan island and camped along this unbelievably clean lake. and, as i mentioned before, i saw a fox.

the second time up matt and i were supposed to drop his mom's car off at the end of her hiking route, which didn't end up working out. she gave us the money anyway, so we were able to go to vancouver and have fun at the aquarium and eating food. we almost weren't allowed to cross the border, though, because matt was sitting in the back wearing his punk rock clothes and looked homeless. god knows canda hates homeless people.

this last time matt was in ohio training to sweep chimneys, so i brought my friend sarah up for the visit. we made the trip to bellingham in a record four hours, ate lunch there, and then continued up to vancouver to stay with my friend who had recently moved there. i spent far too much money on food. i bought a small sleeping bag so that i don't have to borrow dirty hairy ones that belong to boys in my house. carmen gave me her red backpack for keeps which is capital-A-awesome! we crafted and thriftshopped and listened to kids who really were homeless tell the most entertaining stories ever.

time well spent.

Sounds fun, but while you were gone, you missed me being in Portland. Now I may not see you for another month and a half.

So, I love you for using the phrase "for keeps."
